Hatun Puna

Hatun Puna [ Quechua ]
Immense Mountain Range [ English ]

For the ancient settlers who lived at the foot of the Andes Mountains, it is the spirits of the ancestors who live in the mountains who send rain or drought, as reward or punishment for the ritual behavior of mortals.

Protective spirits according to the Andean worldview that additionally watched over the people in their territory, their livestock, crops and other reasons.

For the Andean man, each mountain has its own spirit, its own name and its own domain which they protect. Thus, each region has its own protective mountain.

Mountains were perceived in ancient times as gods of war; the mountains were Apus protectors of the peoples who lived in their vicinity and these in turn worshiped them, with rites of total mysticism, energy and power.

It is thus that in this immense Cordillera it is believed that the specialists in rituals receive their powers from the sacred mountains; only the most experienced could deal directly with the most powerful and lofty mountains in the territory. These specialists invoked the deities of the mountains to control the weather, predict the future, find lost objects, cure diseases. But they also performed rituals in favor of the community, invoking the favor of the gods to ensure the fertility of the land and the abundance of animals.

From time immemorial to the present in the ancient Andean culture, there is a belief in shamanism and communication with the sacred mountains.

This is how this title of the International Compiled Split is also originated
"HATUN PUNA" where the first important dimension is the union between peoples and cultures, strongly amalgamated by the imposing presence of the Andes Mountains, represented on this occasion between the brother ancestral people of Bolivia together with Ecuador, without limit of border and sheltered more firmly between art and Andean ancestral music.
